REFIT SYSTEM ยท RIG
Inspectable, controllable and repairable far from specialist yards.
Standing rigging, terminals, spars, chainplates and reefing systems carry structural loads that allow little room for ambiguity.

MUST BE RIGHT
Load paths and sail control.
Age, corrosion, fatigue, alignment and access are assessed as a complete rigging system rather than as isolated parts.
Standing rigging
Wires, terminals, toggles, turnbuckles and chainplates must have known condition and appropriate geometry.
Spars
Mast, boom, fittings, sheaves and attachment points are checked for structural integrity and drainage.
Control
Reefing and running rigging must reduce sail reliably without creating excessive crew workload.
SENSIBLE LATER
Performance only when reliability remains simple.
Refinements are accepted when they improve handling or reduce crew effort without adding fragile proprietary complexity.
| Decision lens | What we check |
|---|---|
| Reliability | Known materials, suitable terminals and controlled load paths. |
| Maintainability | Inspection access, replaceable running rigging and standard hardware. |
| Weight | Aloft weight and its effect on motion and structural load. |
| Total cost | Supply, installation, tuning, inspection and future replacement cycle. |
