What Came Aboard — Building the Systems Behind PRANIS
QUEST LOG · JUNE–JULY 2026 · PRANIS REFIT
A refit is not only measured in removed panels, cleaned lockers and hours spent in the bilge. It can also be seen in the boxes arriving beside the boat — each one holding a small part of the systems PRANIS will need for years of independent cruising.
Mobility beyond the yacht
A 3D Tender Ultimate RIB and a new Tohatsu 6 hp outboard will provide the everyday connection between PRANIS and the shore. Reliable tender transport is not an accessory on a cruising yacht; it is part of normal life at anchor.

A clearer and more dependable electrical system
New onboard batteries form the foundation. Around them, the monitoring and charging system is being expanded with a Victron Cerbo GX, Victron SmartSolar MPPT charge controllers and a Victron SmartShunt battery monitor.

New circuit breakers, power distribution components, busbars and electrical hardware complete the installation basis. High-quality cables, connectors, sealants and fastening materials may be less visible, but they determine whether the finished system will remain reliable and serviceable.
Connected on board and offshore
High-grade network and data cables, a Teltonika 5G onboard router and a Poynting marine antenna will create the communications backbone for navigation data, cameras, internet access and future onboard services.

Small systems that make a yacht feel like home
A Bingi 42-litre freezer capable of reaching −18 °C, Johnson Marine toilet spare parts, new LED interior lighting and two quiet ventilation fans address the less dramatic but equally important side of long-distance living: food storage, sanitation, good light, fresh air and quiet nights.
Equipment that should be ready before it is ever needed
New smoke, carbon-monoxide and gas alarms, fire extinguishers, a liferaft and additional Lalizas safety equipment strengthen the safety layer around the boat and crew.

In recent weeks, not only countless working hours but also many new components have come aboard. Step by step, PRANIS is becoming a reliable, autonomous and comfortable long-distance yacht — and every single part brings us a little closer to the goal of sailing around the world.
